This was a wonderful read bringing in magic, and an almost Renaissance feel to when the story takes place. Each book in the series is one day in the character's life. In this first book, we learn about a young Kvothe and how he grew up. We learn what happened to him after his parents were killed and what drives him to acquire all the knowledge about names that he can find out from the university.
The biggest problem that I have with this series is that I am still waiting on book three.
